Movie Battles II. B17

July 01, at 18:12
Well just when it looked like the fire of the game Jedi Academy was extinguishing, A simple game mod suddenly grew into an amazing new gameplay form that uses Jedi Academy. What am I talking about? The JKIII: JA Modification called Movie Battles II (MBII) and its version now played B17. This mod, is like a new type of siege where you play in classical maps made by the greatest mappers we have gotten the honor to have for Jedi Academy.

There is three diferent types of games in MBII. These are Full Authentic (FA), Semi Authentic Semi-FA), and Open mode (Open). FA is a siege type of game where depending on the map you are on, for example tantive IV one person can be the player Darth vader, while the rest are stormtroopers. then for rebels, one person is Leia, while another one can be a rebel. In other maps like Geonosis Arena, you can be Mace Windu, or Anakin or padme and so on. Now Semi-FA, you can have 10 Darth vaders if you want and 1 stormttooper or 10 Leias. oe 10 Mace windus. And finally in Open, in any map you can be any character in the game so you can play in Tantive IV an Anakin Skywalker vs a Darth vader in other team :P Cool isn't it. But if that was the whole point of MBII it wouldn't really give it that real feeling. But thats when the MBII makers included a new feature in which you depending on character, usually heroes like Vader and other Jedi or people like Solo, if you die, then you die and have to wait till the 5 minute round ends or the objective of the team is made or a team dies, or time runs out. While troops like a stormy can have 3 lifes yet have less health. and finally another cool feature is that in open mode you get points with kills or winning the match, up to 80 points. now this points can be used to upgrade guns, get thermals, meele skills, more lifes per game, and in Jedi and Sith force powers. Each class in open mode has diferent upgradable skills. Jedi and Sith are oblvious while other classes like Heroes of Movies can use snipers and thermals, clone can upgrade blasters or twin guns. mandalorians can get jetpack fuel and flame thrower and most all a nice shiny rocket

In Conclusion it is a very awesome modification that is worth downloading and there is always more than 9 servers playing it while at least 5 are almost full. Plus you can always go to the OWA server which to my point of view is the best.

Finally! We're up and running!

March 03, at 21:56
Hi everyone and welcome!
I am John the new owner of the Raven Community.
We took over a little while ago but after some problems with the content management system and then some more bugs and issues we finally have everything ironed out!

There is a ton of awesome information here and as a gaming freak I am excited to carry on the legacy of the previous owners and contributors.

Much will remain the same like informative information from Jorge and Col.J.P. and some things will change a little. A new CMS will be added in the relatively near future and the forum will change soon as well. Don't worry nothing will be lost. All of the content and posts will move as well.

Enjoy!

Kenn Hoekstra leaves Raven Software!

June 30, at 02:44

"I'm writing this open letter to announce my resignation from Raven Software effective Wednesday, June 30th and to let everyone know that this pending departure is both amicable and mutual. What can I say? It's been a hell of a ride.

In the past seven plus years I was fortunate enough to be able to contribute to twelve Raven Software titles alongside the most talented group of people I've ever had the good fortune to work with. I want to thank Raven for giving me the opportunity to start my career in game development and I send out my best wishes to everyone at Raven and Activision for their continued success. I know you'll all do well.

I'm sure the question many of you are asking is "why?" (Then again, maybe you aren't!) Put simply, I've reached a point in my life where it's time for me to move on to new challenges…to take some risks and make some time for a few things I've always wanted to do. I don't deal well with "what might have been" scenarios. That said, there are some shots I need to take and I believe now is the time for me to take them. The way I see it, if I don't do it now, I may never get the chance again."

More details can be found at Kenn's World.

Good luck Kenn!

Spot On: The game-resale crackdown

May 01, at 11:34
Some communities now require anyone selling used video games to give fingerprints for police records. The question is: why?

Some stores that buy used video games have begun taking their customers’ fingerprints and turning them over to police, but the stores say they’re just complying with local laws.

In addition to recording drivers license, telephone numbers, and addresses of customers who sell used games or consoles, some are routinely requiring a thumbprint. Retailers are collecting the information under a law intended to regulate pawn shops and make it easy for law enforcement officials to track down thieves who fence stolen goods. A number of states have such laws and Utah passed its own version just last month.

Brain Controlled Video Games Are Coming

April 19, at 13:46
A report from CBBC demonstrates the use of a video game controller used to manipulate the game world directly from the brain. In the game Mind Balance, a player dons a lightweight, wireless headset and helps the alien character Mawg walk a tight rope between sci-fi inspired buildings by focusing on left and right flashing boxes. If Mawg sways too much to the left, the player focuses more on the right box to counterbalance. Neither the game not controller are available for purchase, however, this first generation will enable researchers to create more sophisticated applications and devices for retail use.

Take a look at BBC News Round.

I just receive this mail from Darklord217:
"There is a game called Morrowind, you may have heard of it, with this game comes a powerful editor. With this editor I plan on creating a TC for Morrowind. The TC will be a Hexen-Heretic one. Here's the link to my site on it: Project Serpent "

This project looks interesting, I´ll keep you updated on further development.
