MAGESLAYER

After a series of first person shooters, Raven wanted to try something new with MageSlayer's top-down view. While the actors and objects were flat 2D sprites, the rooms themselves were Quake-like 3D and featured realistic lightning as well.

You had the option to play 4 different character classes with different spells and abilities. The game offered a single-player campagne and different multiplayer options.

The main inspirator of MageSlayer was an ages-old Atari game called "The Gauntlet". While for some old-school fans MageSlayer was an awesome return of "The Golden Ages", the modern wave of gamers raised on DOOM, Quake & co. didn't really accept this game.
