Note from Ramborc: There's a gross mistake in the 7th paragraph of this article: the author claims that the Heretic retail version came out after Hexen. This is wrong. Heretic was released in 1994, with the original 3 episodes (27 levels, same long as DOOM was). In 1995, Hexen came out. In 1996, Heretic was re-released with 2 new free episodes, under the title "Heretic - Shadow of the Serpent Riders". This 2nd release is comparable to the re-release of DOOM with a new episode under the name "The Ultimate DOOM". Claiming that the full retail version of Heretic was released after Hexen is like claiming DOOM I came out after DOOM II... :-)
