Raven Software's Rick Johnson updated his .plan file today to let everyone know that the new official site for the OpenGL remake of Black Crypt is now online. Take a look at Rickmus site here.

Rick Johnson's .plan updated

Friday, December 20, 2002 by Col.J.P.

"Well, after a few years of a break, I started to re-port Black Crypt (Raven's original game on the Amiga)over to the PC again rendering it with GL. I'm hoping to have it mostly finished by the end of the Holiday Season. I was going to try to convince *someone* to create a little web site for it, so that I can put up progress shots, etc. Here's an initial picture of its current state."
Remember that it is still in a very rough state, which is why there are a lot of mixed up things.

You can check it out here.

No Black Crypt port in the near future

Sunday, November 17, 2002 by RambOrc

We just got information directly from Raven Software that the PC port of Black Crypt (started in 1998 and mentioned in a PlanetSoldier chat a couple of months ago) is rather unlikely to be released anytime soon.

"[Black Crypt] was a side project one of our programmers worked on during a vacation. Unfortunately, he hasn't had any free time to work on it for almost three years. Given the fact that he's the lead programmer of Quake IV, I doubt he'll have any free time anytime soon, either."

Black Crypt OpenGL from Raven?

Tuesday, July 23, 2002 by RambOrc

In last Wednesday's chat published on PlanetSoldier Rick Johnson, programmer at Raven Software, made following statement:

"I would love to do an RTS or an RPG. I've kinda started to think about re-porting black crypt over to a GL environment - who knows, maybe I'll finish this one and build in a level editor as well."

So after all, there might still be a chance that Raven's very first game, Black Crypt, will make it from the Amiga to the PC. Stay tuned... as soon as we've got any more info on this, we'll publish it here.
