Korax Heritage Trilogy revealed!

April 30, at 16:00
The Korax Heritage team is officially introducing the Korax Heritage Trilogy! This trilogy builds on the world and lore of the original Hexen. The story spans several decades, each part introducing new characters to play.

*The Chaos Sphere

The first part of the trilogy, it portrays the havoc wreaked on Korax armies, his destruction and the dimension travels with the Chaos Sphere.
This story was told in the original Hexen (including the Deathkings of the Dark Citadel expansion pack), and can be replayed with enhanced graphics and a wide range of RPG elements as Korax Mod. This first part has already been finished and can be downloaded and played.

*Scattered Evil

This sequel takes place a few months after the events of the first part. This time, you explore a large part of a country, visiting dozens of locations consisting of all-new 3D maps. All fights are pure-bred 3D First Person Shooter fights, traveling and interaction with NPCs is classic RPG-like. This part of the trilogy is currently in development and has been recently greatly overhauled for more immersive and enhanced 3D environments and more engaging AI.

*The Serpent Power

A pure role playing game with a seamlessly connected enormous 3D world, you lead a team of young adventurers of the three orders of Chronos on their journey across a whole continent, decades after the death of Korax. You search after the mystical "Serpent Power", which you don't even know what form it takes. Is it physical? Is it spiritual? Is it magic? Nobody seems to know. This game brings back epic storytelling and immersion in the style of the classic 1990s RPG series and is currently in the design phase.

For more information you can visit the Korax Heritage homepage and forums regularly.

Asteroid Base II for Elite Force

April 29, at 17:27
Apprentice is proud to present again a preview for his latest project named "Asteroid Base II". As the successor of 2004's most anticipated and highly regarded map Asteroid Base, Asteroid Base II continues where its predecessor was forced to stop.

The map has been in development for nearly two years and shall be released in two days, Wednesday April 30th at midnight (0:00) CET. It will feature several new area's as well as variations on existing themes and playable modes that were not present within the original map.The map shall be released in four (4) different versions, which will all seporately available.
An overview:

- AB2_HM
This version is the standard Holomatch version and supports nine (9) players.

- AB2_CTF
This version can be used for Capture the Flag and the regular Team Holomatch games. This version supports 4vs4 players.

- AB2_TEAM
This version can be used to play both Capture the Flag and Team Holomatch games (4vs4 players), yet this version is different then the earlier mentioned AB2_CTF version. In this version, players will start with either Federation or alien weaponry (both teams shall have the phaser) and some power-ups including armour. Unlike the CTF version, power-ups are limited and additional weaponry and health have been removed.

- AB2_Salinga
This version has especially been made for the In2tagib modification created by Lt. Cmdr. Salinga but it can also be used for the Disintegration game that comes with either the 1.2 patch or the Expansion pack.

The map supports both Holomatch as Capture the Flag/Team Holomatch games and supports partially Salinga's Gladiator Arena mod, though it was not developed for it. This version will support nine (9) players in regular Holomatch games and 4vs4 players in team based games.

Take a look at Apprentice's homepage for downloads and more info about his projects!

Knights of the Force 2.0 Part 1 Final Version released!

March 20, at 00:43
Knights of the Force 2.0 is a Jedi Academy Modification, which the development took place between 2003 and 2008. Previous 1.0 version was developed and released for Jedi Outcast in 2002. Knights of the Force (KotF) is an expansion pack which recreates Jedi Academy with levels, characters, environments, weapons and vehicles from the 6 movies, cartoons and comics. It is also a detailed Star Wars encyclopedia.

KotF includes 100 new Star Wars characters, 150 skins, 70 lightsabers, 40 vehicles, 50 new stages, 130 NPCs, around 40 new and upgraded menus, 70 multiplayer maps and extraordinary CD menu. All these new features are in 2 GB and KotF requires 3.5 GB space on your hard disk.

These maps and models have been remodeled with movie standards to look more realistic and move visual for KotF. All maps are bot supported. In addition, the best 30 Jedi Outcast maps (mostly Star Wars movie maps) have been converted and upgraded for Jedi Academy.

KotF is being developed in 6 languages, which are; Turkish, English, German, Spanish, French and Portuguese. KotF also includes more than 50 in-game video and cinematics and around 30 new pieces of music. To give the players full access on these maps and stages, KotF has a new menu interface. Some of these are; KotF Add/Load Menu System , KotF Player Menu System and KotF CD Menu. Apart from all these KotF has lots of new and improved functions and options. KotF runs independently from Jedi Academy and its mod files, which means KotF has its own base and mod files. This enables the player to play the mod safely apart from the other modifications that had been previously installed.

KotF is full of new functions and options that will let the player finish Jedi Academy Singleplayer over and over again. Although Jedi Academy is a fine game, developers didn't give the players the game's full potential (probably for marketing or strategic reasons). The game has lots of functions and codes that hasn't been activated or completed and can not be seen by players in the normal gameplay. KotF uses this potential to the maximum and makes the game more realistic and a more enjoyable Star Wars adventure by activating and improving these functions and options after 4 years of hard work!

With all this new stuff you got to try this mod for Jedi Academy! You can pay them a visit here and download the mod here ! Its heavy, almost 1.3 gigs, but it is well worth the effort!

Scooter's Canon Mod for Elite Force!

March 20, at 00:22
Despite discontinuing development - Scooter's Canon Mod Version 0.4 - is the newest installment of his genuinely stunning overhaul of Elite Force. As with the previous version; a great many textures have been replaced and improved upon, and of course the Hazard Team no longer adorn the Hazard Suits - instead they have the correct Uniform that suits the era.

This download however contains many more new, high resolution, textures. Scooter notes that this includes the majority of textures used in the maps ctf_voy1 and ctf_voy2. The stock version of Elite Force most definitely has a lot to be desired in terms of how it looks, although, this file most definitely makes an improvement and comes to you highly recommend by Elite Force Files!

Stonehenge Duel map for Elite Force

March 06, at 10:08
This will be a comfortable map for the Brits among us, and an enjoyable map for those of us that enjoy something completely different from the norm! We have here a reproduction of Stonehenge as the setting in this one on one map...which is an interesting choice:

1v1_stonehenge is a relatively small map, and as mentioned, features the likeness of the Mysterious stonehenge; As you can imagine, there is plenty of cover offered by the boulders, so both attacking your opponent, and/or defending yourself can be a challenge as well as a simple task. To save on fall damage, try to land on the blue areas, and if you happen to fall off the battlefield, there will be a small hit to your health, but you'll teleport back to the fun!

Some of what this map features:

*1v1 level (single, tourney, ffa)
*Bot support
*Custom textures
*Custom sounds

Ammo pickups feature the following values:

*Compressionrifle = 64
*Dreadnought = 80
*I-mod = 30
*Stasis = 30

This is definitely a must have map that you can get at Elite Force Files.

Station 19

October 31, at 06:54
I think one of the first maps I ever downloaded was by TK409er, and let me say they only get better over time. I love this map! It's so unique. It's rare to get an underwater map; I can only remember ever seeing a few. And since this map was made for a mapping contest it's extra-special good.

It seems to be like this "Station 19" is a mining station. When I first spawned in I couldn't figure out what this annoying noise was. After exploring a bit (and since it's a duel map, there's not a whole lot to explore) I discovered the source of the sound: a rather large (and functional!) drilling apparatus. I was quite impressed with the drill bits, considering they were made with brushes, and the animated functional bit really adds a new dimension to the map. The only beef I have with the map is how bright the water is, although if he had made it look proper, you'd be fighting in the dark, which is probably just as bad. The very bright cyan rather grew on me as I tested it.

Despite the fact that this is a duel map, it does contain botrouting, which is rather nice. It also features new textures (such as the underwater skybox) and some very nice background music. One of the best bits about this map is going around and checking out all the added detail (the extra drill bits, the various panels and parts, the extra drilling equipment, etc), and the glass walls and rounded viewports really give it an underwater feel. All it's missing is some fish.

Temple of the Elders

October 31, at 06:52
I love a good map, whether big or small. Sometimes my staff even leaves me one to review! This is one of those maps, and trust me ladies and gentlemen you don't want to miss out on this one. It's a Darth NormaN map, after all, and since it was once again made for a mapping contest it is of the highest quality.

This map comes backed with everything it should: bot routes, new textures, new shaders, and lots and lots of dynamic glow and environment effects. As a result this map may play a little choppy for some, especially if you have dynamic glow on. My laptop has not chugged on a map as of yet, until this one. I was running at about 10 fps outside with dynamic glow on. With glow off it's significantly better, but doesn't look as pretty! Which makes me sad, because I like pretty. However players with a decent rig should be fine with this map.

The map itself is a temple, of the ancient variety. Overgrown, a little caved in, and somewhat forgotten, this temple provides the perfect atmosphere for an intense duel, or a no holds barred free-for-all. It has full bot routing, for those hectic bot matches everyone loves, and while relatively small compared to many free-for-all maps, it's plenty large with no worries of getting lost. The foggy and rainy atmosphere adds to the mood of the map, giving it the perfect setting. The music also enhances the mood. It's definitely worth a look, if not an immediate download. A nice break from all the industrial-looking maps!

CTF Tribute

October 31, at 06:45
Its not that often that we get CTF maps in here really. FFA is probably the main gametype used for maps, so maybe that’s why. I always enjoy reviewing CTF maps though, as I used to play a lot of CTF in JK2! So I’m always glad when I get to review a new CTF map

Personally I quite enjoyed this map, overall I think that the gameplay, and the flow of the map was very good, you could certainly have some frantic battles here. Features like the breakable glass added to the fun of the map, after all, who doesn’t like to shoot at a window with their blaster and see the glass shatter? As for the weapon placement, which is very important in a CTF map, I must say that it is pretty well balanced. There weren’t too many weapons too close together, they were all well spread out, and they were in strategic places too. For instance trip mines and rocket launchers on a ledge overlooking a narrow pathway between the two bases.

Now, onto the architecture and lighting. All in all I think the construction and architecture of the map was pretty cool, there were quite a few nice features, like the pillars rising out of a bottomless pit in the flag base area. The shapes were very unusual but I really liked them. I also liked how they were textured, white overall, but with black in the areas that were cut out of the pillar. The black and white textures used (they are the same texture, one coloured white, and one coloured black) go together quite nicely I think.

However I feel that in some areas they were used a bit too often, and some parts looked a little flat. Overall though, I liked the way the black and white textures were used, because they made the map look quite ‘space-age’. The other textures used went with the black and white ones pretty well too I think.

As for the lighting, that also was pretty good, however in one or two areas it seemed a bit harsh. Overall though, not bad!

I think this is a pretty cool CTF map, it looks cool, and has good playability too. Probably my favourite area, is where there are two bottomless pits, with a narrow passage inbetween them that connects the blue base to the red base. Out of the pits rise two pillars with weapons on top, and overlooking the passage are ledges where there are rocket launchers and trip mines. That place would be great for some really intense battles!

One thing the map could have done with is some music though! It’s a bit too quiet. :/

But all in all a nice CTF map here, give it a download if you like the look of it!
